UFAR's Reach

The Democratic Republic of the Congo, by area, is the largest country in sub Saharan Africa, the second largest in all of Africa, and the 11th largest in the world
Approximately 60% of the DRC’s population of about 90 million, about 54 million people, live in areas where river blindness is a threat. This population lives in just over half of the DRC’s 519 health districts. These 267 districts are also known as health zones.
In 2022, UFAR and its funding partners supported 15 out of 26 provincial projects, trained 9,670 medical personnel and 187,773 teachers and community drug distributors, distributed 3 drugs to 31.9 million people living in 54,506 villages
